We are in the process of converting a number of non-captureable pets to rares. Currently, all of the non-captureable pets are uncommon. The more difficult it is to obtain the pet, the more likely we will convert it to a rare.

We are getting down to the wire guys! Just wanted to give everyone a few updates on some system wide changes. Some of this info might have already been posted but I think it’s useful to have it all in one place.
We have made a game wide pass on pets that are obstructed. You should see MUCH less of these errors now. We will continue to remove these as we find them.
We have dramatically reduced the XP required to level for pets after level 10.
Catching any pet level 15 or under retains its current level.
Catching a level 16-20 pet will lose 1 level.
Catching a level 21-25 pet will lose 2 levels.
Players are vulnerable to PVP while in a pet battle on PVP servers. We have added a buff that will reduce the amount of damage taken once you are broken out of battle by 50% for 3 seconds. PVE players are only affected if they are flagged or in an area that forces flagging. In addition, the exact pet you were fighting will respawn.
A 3m cool-up is activated on login for the Revive Battle Pets spell. The same cool-up is applied to Stable Masters.
The bandage drop rate from Battle Pet Tamer quests has been increased significantly.
The number of pet bandages dropped has been doubled.
The stack limit on pet bandages has been increased to 10.
We have reduced the cooldown on Revive Battle Pets to 8m.
The pet battle combat log has been moved to it’s own chat tab.
All pet battle tamer quests are account-wide. Both the dailys and the one-shots.
We have removed the pet swap on pets dying in everything except PVP.
The matchmaking system has been adjusted to favor battles with opponents of similar levels over queuing speed.
When a pet battle queue pops, you will now have the option to accept or decline.
Players will once again be able to engage in pet battles while in the pet battle queue.
You can have up to x3 of any pet except for uniques. The pets in the following categories are unique: Achievements, Pet Store, Guild and Promotional. Note that TCG pets are not unique and will be tradeable.
Pets caught through pet battles will not be tradeable. Note that many pets are still tradeable. (well over 150)
Day one migration from Cataclysm has been changed. You will now get all of your extra pets directly in the journal (rather than pet crates in your bags/mail) These pets will be allowed to exceed the 500 total/3x per pet limits for this one time event. Note that unique pets will be merged into one.
Release now works on any pet as long as you have more than one of that pet.
Release will continue to work at all times on pets caught though battle.

Forgive me if this has already been asked. I was unable to find anything about it thus far.
I have 3 battle net accounts. All of our wild pets will link, This is a wonderful cool idea.
However, what happens when all three of us are online at the same time? Will we each be able to use the same pets>? If one changes out the current pet team, will it effect the entire lot of the accounts or theirs alone? If one person sells a pet, do we all lose them?
As all 3 accounts are linked with the Beta access, we’re currently unable to test this.
You will only be able to engage in pet battles on one wow account at a time when multiple accounts are attached to one b.net account. The other have access to their pets, but not to battling. [Source]
There doesn’t appear to be any quest continuity after these zones on alliance/horde side respectively. Is it just unfinished or how do you get passed this.
The quests continue very far after that. Did you defeat Lindsay in Redridge? That should send you on your next quest to defeat Eric Davidson in Duskwood.
This is a bug with quest flow that should be fixed in the latest build.
What happened to those? When we are fighting 3 pets all the time, you have to switch at least once, and probably twice. Being forced to switch in under fire is a huge disadvantage. Even level pets can lose up to 1/4 or 1/2 of their health in a single attack. The only way to avoid this is to fight pets that are lower level, but if you go too low in level, you’re fighting 20 or 30 battles for each level.
A free switch after the 2nd round would be better than the former switch after the 1st round. Even better yet would be not fighting vs 3 enemies all the flingin’ flangin’ time. It should be a random number between 1 & 3, with 2 being the most common.
Free switches are only in PVP fights. The fact that they were on PVE battles was a bug that was fixed in the latest build.
Account-wide Battle Master Quests Resetting
On three occasions I have started the Northrend Account wide Pet Battle Master quest only to have it reset.
First time after having beaten 2 NPCs and logged off only to come back on to find it removed from my quest log.
The second after a server restart – again removed from my quest log.
The third after changing zones from Dragonblight to Zul’Drak for a final fight – again removed from quest log.
Anyone else having this issue?
A number of bugs with these quests were fixed in the latest build.
No pets in SIlvermoon or Ironforge
I’m trying to get Big City Pet Brawlin’ on Lost Isles, and I’ve been looking around both Ironforge and Silvermoon, and there aren’t any wild pets there. I even tried killing of the non-battle critters, but they all respawned as non-battle again.
Both of these cities have pets, you just need to find them. 🙂
De-Level on Capture and Improved Traps
Ok, so I still haven’t seen any sign that Strong Trap from the Achieve is any different than our normal one.
But supposedly it is less likely to fail to capture, and will look different.
Now that the loss of levels on capture is in place for pets, could it be considered to make an enhanced trap (from a difficult achieve) which removes, or at least reduces, this effect?
Maybe have this as a 425 unique pet gathered, or 50,000 pets captured reward. Late enough that you really don’t have much advantage on the market (it will have already bottomed out by then) or leveling process. It just removes a nuisance for those who show that they are here for the long haul.

You guys are seeing bugs from the achievements changing during beta. Sorry about that but it’s just part of the beta process. We really appreciate you guys helping us get everything ready for the live game!
So, a while back, they said the INTENT was that if you had multiple pets of the same species when you log into multiple toons after account-wide pets launch, if you reach more than 3 of a species, or reach the 500 pet limit, all extras will be mailed to the toon that you logged into.
Is this still the case, or are the extra pets simply going to go poof? :S
Pets will still be merged on MoP launch, but instead of placing them in your bags or mail they will be placed directly in your pet journal. You will be allowed to have more than 500 and 3x per pet during this process. Any pets that are flagged as unique will be merged into one and also placed in your journal. (Unique pets are from Achievements, Pet Store, Promotions and Guild) You will be able to cage any pets that are tradeable and you can release anything that you have more than one of.
A few examples:
A B.net account has a total of 6 Wolvar Pups across all of it’s characters. On merge the B.net account would have 6 Wolvar Pups. This would be the only time an account is allowed to have more than 3x of a single pet.
A B.net account has a total of 3 Murky’s from BlizzCon 2005 and 4 Nuts from the pet collection achievements across all of it’s characters. (both unique pets) On merge the B.net account will have 1 Murky and 1 Nuts.Hope that helps clear things up. [source]
Here is the 3rd Pets of Warcraft Tutorial Video. I’ve taken Hayate and friends to the Warsong Lumber Camp. There I will show a Pet Battle against two Pets. I will use Hayate to trap the Rat and to kill the Roach.
Once the battle is over, the video will show you how to release Pets you do not wish to kill in your Pet Journal.
Now I know in beta we can have up to 3 of the same kind of pets except C.E. pets, but I wanted to double check.
1) . Will we be able to have 3 pets of each from Quests? Say I do a quest and get a pet, will my alt be able to do that quest and get the pet also?
2). Darkmoon Faire pets, will I be able to buy with my tokens say 3 of the same darkmoon faire pets?
3). Pets that drop off a hoilday boss, say I already got the christmas pet last year from the boss, would that toon that got it be able to get it again or a alt and keep it?
4). ICC pets, buy 40 tokens and get a pet, can I have 3 of the same kind for ICC pets?
5). Childern week pets, say I have been doing childern’s week since day 1 and I have ALL the pets already, will i be able to get a second pet of the same next year? And/or a alt does the weekly quest, will they be able to get the pet the second time around?
I really like to know the answers before I get some of the above, nothing worst than spending time or marks/tokens and I will be unable to learn a duplicate pet from a quest/ICC/hoilday boss or childern week!
The only pets that are flagged as unique are in the categories listed below. This can of course change at any time, but this is what we are looking at for MoP release currently.

Please be aware that with the release of the pre-expansion 5.0.4 patch on Tuesday, August 28, all raid lockouts will be reset. This means that you will not be able to extend a raid lockout beyond the week before the patch release. [Link]

PvP Vulnerability During Pet Battles Only areas that flag you as PVP (such as Tol Barad or Wintergrasp) will affect PVE servers. Sorry for the confusion on this.
Funny that they talk about Tob Barad and Wintergrasp. I wasn’t able to find wild Pets in those zones. So, I guess you don’t want to be dueling an other player in those zones, because you will be open to attacks.
With the Mist of Pandaria Beta well under way, I’ve started to make maps for you to find the right pets to battle. I hope that these maps will help you in your pet leveling. If there’s something different when the game goes live I will change the numbers for you.
The 1st map that I’ve started with Azeroth first. So here you’ll find the two maps of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. If there is a zone without a number, it is because I wasn’t able to find a Pets to fight in those zones. If I find something, I will add the icon there too!

Limitations On Multiple Pets

Yes, you will be able to have 3 of almost every pet. Certain pets are unique since they are attached to a Wow license, granted from an achievement or earned from TCG codes.
World PVP In Pet Battles
In another blue response, it is revealed how developers currently plan on addressing the possibility of players encountering world PVP while engaged in a battle with a wild pet. [source]
The fact that players are vulnerable to PvP attacks while in a pet battle is intentional. However, a couple features that go along with this are not implemented yet.
First off, the exact pet you were fighting when you were broke out of pet battle will be respawned. Same quality, stats and skin color. Second, you will get a 3s damage shield that absorbs 50% of incoming damage to help negate the fact that you need time to recover after exiting the pet battle interface. Both of these will be in for the next build.
We feel its very important to keep the PvP aspect of the game intact and if you choose to play on a PvP server, you will certainly be fighting for those rare spawns. (This rule effects PVE servers as well but only in contested areas.)
